Project Tour: Studios II, EarthCraft Multifamily Renovation

freeJoin Viridiant, Virginia Energy Efficiency Council, and Virginia Supportive Housing on November 20th as we take a closer look at Studios II, a EarthCraft-certified Multifamily Renovation project in South Richmond, VA, and discuss the benefits of energy efficiency in affordable housing.
Virginia Supportive Housing’s Studios II has a variety of features that create a healthy and safe living environment for its tenants. The building envelope was tightened, outdated through-wall HVAC systems were replaced with ductless mini-splits, and solar panels were installed on the new flat roof to reduce the building’s energy load. Widening the existing building to increase the square footage of each unit to approximately 300 square feet ensured that each unit was able meet ADA clearance and accessibility requirements for 5 of the 39 units and allow all of the units to meet VHDA’s Universal Design standards.
