Executive Director

Position Summary: Position Summary: The Executive Director will set the pace for the team of 13, developing and executing a strategy for meeting organizational goals, objectives and operation plans with a budget of about $1.7M. Working in collaboration with the Board of Directors and staff members, the Executive Director will play a key role in the organization’s strategic planning, organizational management, fundraising and development, community advocacy and program development. As the lead voice, the Executive Director will be responsible for leading, motivating and developing staff and Board members to be engaged and passionate about Viridiant’s mission and vision.

  • Oversees preparation of the annual budget and provides information to the Board in their review
  • Ensures the organization has diverse staff with skills appropriate to the needs of the position through people management activities including hiring, separation of employment, ongoing staff development, performance management, compensation and benefits.
  • Leads all fund development activities, including grant writing, cultivation and stewardship of donors, event planning and identifying new resources. Actively seeks and maintains a diverse donor base of individual, business, foundation and government segments.
  • Builds long term relationships with key donor segments based on mission, cultivation and stewardship, program outcomes and sound fiscal management
  • Leads organization’s financial growth to maintain healthy cash flow, provide full services to our constituents and maintain adequate reserves to support board approved investments
  • Promotes Viridiant’s visibility and welfare through participation and membership in community forums, civic organizations and activities that are aligned with Viridiant’s mission.
  • Develops a strategic marketing plan that provides clear and concise message telling the organization’s story. Oversees the execution of marketing and media relations.
  • Oversees and supports the development, design and delivery of program initiatives, assuring that the goals and objectives are aligned with Viridiant’s overall strategic plan.
  • Manages the administrative components of all program services including contract negotiations, contract and grant reporting and contracted work.
  • Perform additional responsibilities related to the success of the organization

Job Requirements and Qualifications (education and experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area required; masters or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of nonprofit work experience in comparable fields with demonstrated success in staff leadership, fundraising, partnership development, financial management and budgeting.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years successful supervisory experience through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
  • Demonstrated success of effectively leading change and organizational growth through strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of green building, construction delivery, state housing policy and federal funding initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in acquiring agency support through successful grant applications and general fund raising.
  • Strong fund development, marketing and public relations experience to policy makers, media communities, and stakeholders.
  • Strong and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits integrity, commitment to Viridiant’s mission, respect for diversity and the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce.com) or related area.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment, Travel and Expected Hours: This position is performed in a traditional office environment, and it might require the individual to travel to other locations for meetings or for other business-related needs. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties and business demand.

Administrative and Communications Associate

Overview: Viridiant is a growing, non-profit environmental organization that works to advance sustainable, affordable, and energy efficient construction.  The Administrative and Communications Associate is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communication strategies, managing the organization’s events, fund development, and the coordination of sponsorships. This position requires various skillsets and provides an exciting opportunity to grow the reach of the organization. The Communications and Outreach Director reports to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with Executive Director, and the Board of Directors.

For over ten years, the organization has been contributing to the community with a budget of approximately $1.6M and a fulltime staff of 13, as well as 15 independent field contractors. Summary of Primary Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Communications

  • Create, write, edit, and maintain newsletters, social media content, website, collateral, and other printed materials, including annual reports, press releases, publications, and videos
  • Communicate and collaborate with a range of people and organizations to advance Viridiant’s mission
  • Ensure consistent branding across departments to include business cards, email signatures, vehicle decals, etc.
  • With support, develop and implement communications plans with cost-effective marketing and outreach strategies to communicate with a range of constituents through printed and electronic media and advertising

Outreach

  • Development
    • With Support, develop and implement cost-effective fund development strategies involving individuals, corporate sponsors, foundations, and grant funding opportunities
    • Assist in the production of annual fundraising events and campaigns
    • Utilize Salesforce to plan, implement, and evaluate specific fund development programs and campaigns in connection with the Executive Director
    • Oversee builder/developer outreach to promote the organization’s programs and services to include distribution of plagues, certificates, and marketing yard signs to clients
    • Assist in management of corporate sponsorships and benefits
    • Manage builder membership renewals
  • Events
    • In collaboration with the Executive Director, assist in the production and execution of all organization events (timelines, content, budget, logistics, sponsors)
    • Building Sustainability Conference/Awards (annual)
    • Building Sustainability Tour (annual)
    •  Fundraising/Cultivation Events (as scheduled)
    • Technical Advisor Meetings (annual, first of the year)
    • Socials (as scheduled)
    • Trainings (recurring, 3-4x/year)
    • Community Event Booths/Dedications (as scheduled)
    • Community Education Webinars (bi-monthly)

Administrative Support

  • Field incoming calls, forward and communicate with clients as needed
  • Provide technology support and maintenance for technology to include Salesforce, integration between platforms, and troubleshoot/problem solve
  • Oversee and communicate office supply and postage needs to the Director of Finance and Administration
  • Administrative support to Executive Director for Board of Directors management

While this position supports the organization and other departments, it directly reports to the Executive Director and all department level requests will need to be approved by the Executive Director or her designee.

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business preferred with a minimum of 2 – 3 years marketing, events and/or fundraising related experience
  • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce.com) and design programs (Adobe, Canva) or related area
  • Demonstrate excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to manage timelines and project budgets effectively
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent computer skills. Regular use of Word, Excel, WordPress, and design/ layout software, and Salesforce database
  • Experience with website maintenance and newsletter production and message development
  • Nonprofit and supervisory experience a plus

Associate Project Manager

Position Summary: Viridiant is a non-profit environmental organization that works to advance sustainable, affordable, and energy efficient construction. The Associate Project Manager is responsible for supporting multiple aspects of multifamily and commercial projects to navigate their energy, sustainability, and verification goals. They will be guided by the multifamily project team to ensure high level service from project start to completion.

  • Manage projects and associated client communications
  • Determine project scope and develop contracts
  • Perform takeoffs from architectural plans
  • Review construction documents and perform energy model projections
  • Coordinate and support Design Review(charrette and plan review)facilitation
  • Support field staff/Technical Advisors
  • Maintain and track project documents, including reviewing submittals for compliance with green building requirements
  • Manage administration and delivery of certification services for programs such as EarthCraft, ENERGY STAR, Enterprise, and NGBS
  • Participate in contract management. Includes tracking and approving field staff expenses.
  • Perform additional responsibilities related to the success of the organization

Job Requirements and Qualifications (education and experience):

  • Some college: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience. Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Experience with construction site inspections
  • Proficiency reading architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans
  • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with CRM Software, especially Salesforce, required
  • Able to readily learn new software programs
  • Demonstrate in-depth attention to detail; ability to manage and prioritize deadlines and excellent task management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Collaborative and positive demeanor.
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in architectural and energy modeling & analysis(software)
  • RESNETRFI, HERS Modeler or HERS Rater Certification
