Client: Community Preservation & Development Corporation
Location: Arlington, VA
Built in 1958, The Larkspur (formerly known as Howard Manor) was in deplorable conditions and in need of an extensive renovation and much repair. The Community Preservation and Development Corporation worked to achieve a 53% improvement in energy efficiency and provide affordable housing in the Arlington area. The 76 residents of this high density neighborhood benefit from their EarthCraft certified units equipped with new energy star windows, appliances, lights and WaterSense fixtures in the bathrooms. Each unit was updated to make it fully accessible to persons living with disabilities. The installation of a new duct system resulted in final duct leakage at 3% on average. The apartment complex benefits from a central location near schools, community amenities, and the Mt. Vernon nature trail.
